RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am interested on the biogeochemistry of the marine Dissolved Organic Matter (DOM) to better understand its role in the carbon cycle and in the climate. I study the distribution of the DOM in the ocean and the main drivers that control it, as well as its chemical composition, including optical characterization (CDOM and FDOM), and its relationship with marine microbes. I am also interested in marine plastic pollution and I study the impact of microplastics on the carbon cycle and on microorganisms. I am exploring new plastic biodegradation pathways.
