RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am interested in understanding the structure and functioning of marine coastal ecosystems, and the way they are affected by environmental and anthropogenic factors. To this end, I'm studying the population ecology of long-lived invertebrates that highly contribute to the benthos structural complexity, especially gorgonians and corals. I focus on long term studies in order to distinguish change from natural variability. To establish the mechanisms by means of which environmental factors affect the organisms, I'm also examining the life-history traits of some target species to determine the budgeting of matter and energy among reproduction, growth and basal metabolism and how this is affected by the environment.
