RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am interested in studying how global change is affecting Mediterranean benthic communities, with special emphasis on invasive species. My current research interests focus on the ecology and dynamics of an invasive coral species in the Mediterranean Sea. With the aim to contribute understanding the mechanisms that allow non-indigenous species to succeed, I am studying how different environmental parameters, such as temperature and coastal degradation (i.e. artificial habitats deployment), are affecting the invasion dynamics of the alien coral Oculina patagonica in the western Mediterranean, and how these processes will likely be affected by climate change.
