RESEARCH INTERESTS

I am a PhD candidate interested in marine ecology and climate-related processes, with a focus on the role of plastic degradation in the marine carbon cycle and its impact on marine microorganisms. My research investigates the release of carbon compounds from plastics in the ocean, such as dissolved organic matter, volatile organic compounds and greenhouse gases, and how these interact with microbial communities including bacteria and phytoplankton. Through laboratory experiments and field observations, my work aims to understand how plastic-derived carbon influences biogeochemical processes and microbial dynamics.
