RESEARCH INTERESTS

Understanding biogeochemical processes involved in the air-sea-ice interface is crucial to pinpoint climate feedbacks. My PhD focuses on elucidating the sources and the main factors regulating the biogeochemical composition of cloud condensation nuclei and ice-nucleating concentrations of ocean-ejected primary aerosols in polar environments. The aim of this research is to link aerosol emission processes to the polar marine biosphere. To that end, I will combine field work in polar regions and experiments in the laboratory by using a sea-spray aerosol generation chamber. The experiment results are intended to contribute to a better understanding of the ocean-atmosphere interface dynamics, which will help to clarify the role of aerosols in cloud production and climate change, as well as their biological and chemical origins.
